Noise Induced Hearing Loss
Noise induced occupational hearing loss is a result of exposure to excessive noise at work, sometimes for long periods of time, where employers have failed to provide the necessary protection, such as carrying out noise surveys of the area to determine the decibel levels, supplying ear protection and regular hearing tests.
This often occurs in heavy industries such as steel and glass making, or foundries.
The damage to a person's hearing, which may lead to the need for hearing aids, or such conditions as tinnitus, may not even be apparent until many years later, but a simple hearing test will be able to determine whether it is a result of previous excessive noise exposure or other factors such as old age.
If the audiologist concludes that your hearing loss is a result of excessive noise exposure, then it may be possible to make a claim for compensation.
Even if you do not work at your former company or if it is no longer in existence, it could still be possible to claim years later on the insurance policy that was used at the time.
At Glaisyers we can help trace the company's old insurance policy, no matter how long the employment occurred, and help with every step of the way in making this potentially difficult claim.
