Power of Attorney and Lasting Power of Attorney
A Power of Attorney allows someone to delegate specific limited responsibilities to another person or persons when they are unable to act for themselves.
A Lasting Power of Attorney is designed to help a person (known as the "Donor") to manage their property, financial affairs or their health and welfare, by allowing them to appoint one or more persons chosen by them (their "Attorneys") to deal with these matters in the longer term.
An Attorney can continue to act even in the event that the Donor becomes mentally incapable of making decisions of their own. This is often the reason for making one in the first place.
A Lasting Power of Attorney can be created by anyone over the age of 18, and is commonly used for the benefit of persons who are elderly or infirm and who require help in managing their specific day to day needs.
We have considerable experience in preparing Powers of Attorney and would be pleased to discuss your own requirements.
